Prof. Edwin van Beek

About

My research area is Organology.  For the PhD in Music, I am conducting research and analysis of the construction of early surviving historical harps of Ireland and Scotland.
In 2010 I received an MMus in Musical Instrument Research with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh for my research on the structural breaks and repairs to the Queen Mary and Lamont harps of National Museums Scotland. In 2011 I was awarded the American Musical Instrument Society's Fredrich R. Selch prize for my presentation on the historical damage to the Lamont harp.
I also hold a BSc in Physics and an MA in Astronomy.
