About
Lara is completing her doctoral dissertation at the University of Edinburgh, supervised jointly in the departments of art/architectural history and history. Her research examines the writer and architect Paul Schultze-Naumburg and his wider influence on the discourses of art and architecture, cultural criticism, nationalism and race. Cultural narratives continuing from the Wilhelmine to the National Socialist period are of particular interest.
Lara is co-convening the Symposium: "Cultural Narratives of race in the German Empire: 1871-1945," to be held at the University of Edinburgh on September 13th, 2012: http://www.hss.ed.ac.uk/conferences/cultural_narratives_conference/
Alongside Prof. Iain Boyd Whyte and Dr. Christian Weikop, Lara is convening the two-day international conference "'All Degenerate!' A Reassessment of the Conception and Reception of Entartete Kunst", hosted by VARIE, the University of Edinburgh and the National Galleries of Scotland in April 2013: http://rfgvc.tumblr.com/
