My design-led research seeks to explore design considerations for developing a digital medium for animation which re-appropriates the embodied knowledge and skills encountered in the traditional technnique of puppet stop-motion.
Through a series of design key studies, the process reconceptualises the skilled animator’s workspace. In doing so, it unveils the values of their practice and how their practice transforms in the new setting which uses haptic technology to mediate physicality.
Aside, I am interested in exploring what is lost, gained, transformed or confused by adding digitality in the creative process of a ‘hands-on’ practice.
